A 'Very Big, Epic Sci-Fi' Tetris Movie Is In The Works

Tetris, the blockbuster movie, is coming to a movie theatre near you! And yes, you read that right.

Fresh out of ideas, Threshold Entertainment is developing a feature film based on the classic puzzle game from Nintendo, and according to the production company’s CEO, Larry Kasanoff, it's set to be a “very big, epic sci-fi movie.”

"This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes,” he told The Wall Street Journal.

Threshold, which has previously adapted Mortal Kombat to the big screen — and which great success — is hoping to depend on the legacy of the Tetris franchise to hit it big at the box-office. "Brands are the new stars of Hollywood...We have a story behind Tetris which makes it a much more imaginative thing,” he added.

Released in 1984, the video game celebrated its 30th anniversary back in June.
