Tetris Finally, Somehow, Makes It to the Big Screen

No, it's not anime-related, or even Japanese in the slightest, but we caved. After years of fans playfully joking about the possibility, the classic block-stacking video game, Tetris, is getting the live-action treatment.

The project is being produced by Threshold Entertainment, the same studio that did the 1995 live-action Mortal Kombat movie and sequel, as well as the Mortal Kombat: Conquest prequel TV series. Threshold Chairman Larry Kasanoff will be producing, with the Tetris Company and Threshold's Jimmy Ienner taking on the role of executive producers.

According to Kasanoff, the film will be a "very big, sci-fi movie." He added, "This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes."

There's no word yet on when we might expect to see this "block-buster" for ourselves.
